As a child, I never really cared for fall. Fall, at the time, meant the end of summer camp, and I dreaded heading back to school. Silly young me had no idea how much going back to school pales in comparison to going to work and all of the other things that old me does now. So I never really cared for fall except, that is, for fall food and flavors – Thanksgiving especially. On Thanksgiving, I would go to my family’s lunch, pack it in, and then head over to my best friend’s house for dinner before passing out from eating too much. Pretty gluttonous but it only happened once a year and I was young, so my metabolism was working in my favor.
Nowadays I welcome the fall – it’s such a cozy season filled with apple picking and pumpkin carving. And I still love the fall smells and flavors, but I am a terrible cook. I am not what one would call a homemaker. Lucky for me, Febreze has managed to capture the scents and flavors of fall in the Febreze Home Harvest Collection scentspiration box they sent me, so I can fake it until I make it (which will most likely be never). The scentspiration box is filled with inspirational fall activities as well as NOTICEables Autumn Harvest pluggable air fresheners for the home in Sandalwood and Chai fragrances. Right now these two scents are filling up my house with a delightful, and not overpowering, cinnamon and sugar smell. It’s as though I just baked snickerdoodles and I haven’t even lifted a finger! I am going to have one very disappointed customer when my daughter gets home and realizes there are no cookies behind this delicious smell. The Febreze NOTICEables not only make it smell like I have been busy baking, they also eliminate odors so that my house truly smells clean (yet another thing I don’t have time to do).
In addition to the home fragrances inside the scentspiration box, I received a number of activities and recipes to welcome the fall. As I have already mentioned, I am not much of a cook, so I appreciate that the recipes are short and sweet, literally. In fact, I just made oven-baked s’mores, inspired by the Toasted Almond Febreze car vent clip I received, in order to relieve the snickerdoodle disappointment. And, let’s face it, s’mores taste better anyways.
Here is the quick and easy recipe for your enjoyment:
1 Chocolate Bar
1. Line toaster oven tray with tin foil and place graham crackers on top. Alternatively, you can preheat a regular oven to 350 degrees, but that will take longer.
2. Press marshmallows between your fingers to make them flat, then place them on the graham crackers.
3. Toast on light/medium or until the marshmallows have turned a light, caramel brown color.
4. Remove tray from the oven, and firmly press a piece of chocolate down into the marshmallow to melt the chocolate. Enjoy!
