We recently enrolled our 3 year old into La Canada Preschool after moving into the area this summer. It would be his first time attending any type of school/daycare program and after researching some local preschools, we chose La Canada based on its play-based philosophy, great indoor/outdoor play areas, staff, and scheduling (there are lots of options for 3-5 days/week, half or full days, "lunch buddies" program, + flexibility if additional hours are needed on short notice). Three months in, I can say that its been a great decision for our family. Our son loves going to school and comes home with a ton of stories and a bunch of artwork. His socks and shoes are also always soaked and covered in sand and mud as he loves watering the yard with the garden hose - the staff isn't afraid to let the kids get dirty as long as they're having fun, so that shouldn't be a concern for future parents either! We've also taken advantage of the last minute drop-off on one of his "home" days when our nanny was sick and my husband and I had work meetings all morning. Finally, and most importantly, the staff is great. Our son has great relationships with Miss Debbie, Mr. Tony, Miss Pammie, Miss Jackie, and Miss Hannah. Every afternoon when they strap our son into his carseat, they provide a report of the day - any fun activities, issues, etc. They also do a good job of keeping the parents in the loop about scheduling reminders, "family participation" days, etc. So far, nothing bad to say about LCP. We plan on enrolling our son in the 5-day a week program next fall (he's currently there 3 mornings/week).
