My two boys ages 7 and 4 attended Creative Kidz for a few months. The cleanliness of the daycare and bright colors caught my attention. Others didn’t appear to be as clean and bright, or didn’t have the available space for my children at that time so I chose Creative Kidz. The teachers in my son’ classrooms were friendly but that was not enough for me to stay. Frustrations came quickly. My main concerns started after 2 injury reports were filed. My oldest was hit in the head with a hard toy that was thrown by another child while playing outside. My husband witnessed this and he had to inform teacher. He even had to ask for an injury report to be written. This resulted in a large knot on my son’s forehead. On the second my youngest hit the back of his head on the monkey bars. During pick up he was asleep. His teacher said that “He must have been tired.” but when walking out we were informed by the director of the incident. The director insisted that this accident happened much earlier in the day however they do go outside before our pickup time. They do have cameras for $25.00 a month The cafeteria camera is fuzzy. Kids will have to wear uniforms and it is hard to find them on camera at times. I had viewing access to a main room, play ground, and cafeteria. I didn’t have access however to another room that my youngest would go in or in the hall. My 7 year old would go into the cafeteria after school. At times he appeared to be bored. They have a couple of computers but if he wasn't on them he would just skip around the room. One day I saw the boys arm wrestling. I would have liked to have seen more fun and games. In my 4 year olds main classroom I did see on camera a much larger boy approach my child in an impolite manner. My son was sitting in a chair playing and the other child stood in front of him aggressively. My son stood up very quickly and there was a large difference in size and I was afraid to witness my son get hurt. This was just seconds, then the teacher gently pulled the other boy away. My son sat back down as he was before. He claimed he wasn't bullied but he later told me that he was punched in the stomach. I brought this up with the assistant director who said that she witnessed wrestling (my son agreed) and she said that she would make sure to put a stop to it. My husband saw the same boy hug my son roughly or run next to him that would knock him over when he would go pick him up. My husband would expressed his concerns to Felicia that he seems to get hurt, but she would just state "kids are kids". When I mentioned it to her , her response was “So what would you like me to do, put him in the 2 year olds class?”
Another review mentions how Felicia is with money. She definitely tried to cuts comers and “up sale” parents as well. Not only did I have to get a lengthy list of supplies, uniform shirts, SOLID black shoes, khaki pants, her approach on having parents buy these things is rude and unprofessional.
EXAMPLE 1) My sons first field trip, he didn’t want to go. I informed her of this and she later asked my husband after I politely declined. When he replied that we have already asked him her response was ”Why are you asking him? Are you not the parent?”. She then told me that if he didn’t go, he would be the only one at the daycare with no one to watch him.
EXAMPLE 2) The following week she tried to sell me soccer lessons, an hour a week for 6 weeks for 80.00. I declined. She proceeded to ask my husband who declined. She showed him a video of my son saying “just how much fun he was having” trying to get him to agree. She then showed me the video in the morning. Very pushy.
EXAMPLE 3) A woman inside tried to sell me Avon or Mary Kay baskets.
EXAMPLE 4) After paying for uniform shirts from Felicia (and the rest at the mall) she would have a few “dress down” days with a charge.
EXAMPLE 5) Field trips are NON-REFUNDABLE. (A trip was cancelled due to cold weather and had not been rescheduled.) She refused to give me $13.00 and informed me that field trips were non- refundable.
EXAMPLE 6) After I changed to another daycare she insisted that I owed her $185.00. She wants full tuition to be paid up front. If the first of the month is after a weekend she wants full tuition on THAT FRIDAY BEFORE or there is a late fee. I had already paid for the full month of February and was leaving before the month was up, which I had to REMIND HER of. To add to this, One day as I was logging my children in, she was on the phone on a personal phone call discussing a clients payment situation in disgust. This is extremely unprofessional, and a privacy violation.
Felicia, the owner and director is condescending and unprofessional not only when discussing money. The last day my children attended was horrible and I couldn’t take it anymore. The day before, my son had broken a 16ct box of crayons and was told those had to be replaced. I talked to my son that evening and he stated that he was upset and was being picked on. I am still not sure what made him this upset. In the morning she marched around her desk and almost yelled, “I WANT TO SHOW YOU WHAT YOUR SON DID!!” I was shocked. People were logging children in, parents walking out ect. I calmly stated “I was told yesterday what happened” I asked her if she knew why he became upset. She looked puzzled. I then started to tell her what my son told me. That he felt that he was being picked on. She interrupted and said, “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT HE FELT LIKE… YOU . DON’T . DAMAGE . SCHOOL. PROPERTY!!!!!” This conversation lasted a few minutes. If the rest I have written doesn’t turn you away, think about what she said to me, “It doesn’t matter what he felt like” … over some crayons. Crayons I had supplied her with when he first started!
